Ambience Galore in This New Kitchen

Recently, we had the opportunity to take a kitchen and living room from being just studs and wires to completely changing it into an area full of space, light and ambient fixtures!

Our clients, Sharon and Tim bought this wonderful house in Sherwood, Arkansas. They immediately began re-imagining a new life for it’s outdated interior.

When we arrived at our first design consultation, the house had already began its transformation. The contractor had taken out the wall between the kitchen and living area, and we quickly got to work removing all of the old wiring that would soon be moved and replaced.

Opting to paint the wood ceiling beams, and brighten up the space with lighter colors; we decided that recessed, directional lighting on the ceiling would be the perfect way to provide extra lighting to the space. Of course, we added a dimmer switch! We love dimmer switches!

This is the view from the new kitchen into the living area! Isn’t it beautiful? Open and airy, this new living space will be sure to please the owners and family over the holiday season and beyond!

If you have big dreams for a new beautiful space in your old home, give us a call. We love making messes into beautiful things!

Giving Back with Veterans Villages

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”-Winston Churchill

Giving back is truly a blessing.  This past weekend, Adams & Pearce Electric had the opportunity to serve the community by helping get some work done on a house that will be given to a Veteran.

Veterans Villages of America is a nonprofit organization that helps Veterans get on their feet after homelessness or other issues that prevents them having a place to call home.

Our Master Electrician, Randy Pearce, and apprentice Kevin Durden installed GFCI outlets, switch plates, receptacles, and lighting in the small house on Parkway in North Little Rock.

The Veteran will take possession this week! You’d be amazed at the group of people that show up to get this done. There were people doing flooring, plumbing, yard work and painting!

You can help a Veteran by donating to Veterans Villages of America so that they can continue to help a Veteran get on their feet.

We look forward to helping again!

We love Antique lamps, Chandeliers, and Stained Glass lighting!

If you’re anything like us, we love to find unique lighting that isn’t the run of the mill stuff that you will find at the big box stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot.

Today, we were on a mission to find some repair parts for a pair of 1920’s wall sconces that Randy is repairing for a client. While we were out and about, we checked in on the inventory of these 5 amazing Little Rock Lighting Stores.

TEC Electric is located on Maumelle Boulevard, and is bursting at the seams with some of the most unique and beautiful lighting in Central Arkansas. From modern to vintage reproductions, and indoor and outdoor lighting solutions, TEC Electric definitely needs to be on your list of places to shop.

2) The Shade Above is located on Old Cantrell in the warehouse area in front of Cajun’s Wharf. This is the place to get beautiful, one of a kind lamps and shades. The showroom is inviting and full of unique custom made lamps. They also have lots of repair parts for lamps, and you can get monogrammed lamp shades too! They were very knowledgeable and helpful. This is the place to go to to get your vintage or antique lamps and shades made like new!

3) Fabulous Finds Antique and Decorative Mall We have an awful time getting out of any upscale Antique Mall without spending lots of money. Today, we walked out with a gorgeous set of lamps for ourselves, but it didn’t break the bank. Fabulous Finds isn’t just focused on lighting. They have tons of antique items that would take us days to fully take in. The owners and employees there are very welcoming, and the whole shopping experience was fun.

Next time you’re in the market to do some decorating and add some lighting to your Central Arkansas home or office, check any of these places out! And if you need us to hang that new chandelier, give us a call or Click here to contact us

It’s that time of year again! People all over Central Arkansas are setting up their Halloween decorations,
and since we are obsessed with lighting here at Adams & Pearce; we took a trip over to Youtube to see what they had for ideas!

Here are the 5 Most Awesome Halloween Light Shows that we found!

#1. The 2010 Halloween Light Show from Creative Lighting Displays

Getting over 6 Million views this video rocks! You may have seen this one on social media already, but it never gets old! They did a great job combining this lighting spectacular with Michael Jackson’s Thriller!

#2. What Does the Fox Say? 2013 from Edwards Landing Lights

This has over 8 Million views, and along with cool light show, we suspect it got so popular because of the song attached to it by Ylvis.  According to their Youtube channel, this one took over 8, 500 lights and 1066 computer animation channels. And this isn’t a business for them, it’s just a hobby! Someone has a lot of time on their hands!

#3. Party Rock Anthem Halloween Light Show

This house, based in California, put on a great show to Party Rock Anthem. We like the addition of the crowd dancing to it in their driveway!

#4. Halloween Light Show to Bohemian Rhapsody

Let’s face it. This song is super popular, and this crew from Odessa Texas did a great job on this one!

#5 For Whom the Bell Tolls Halloween Light Show from Tripp Light Show

Maybe it’s because we are children from the 80’s, but we enjoyed this light show to Metallica!

We hope you stay safe during this spooky season. Which one did you like best? Tell us in the comments!

P.S. If you need some help making sure your Central Arkansas lighting display has enough power to make an awesome performance this Halloween, Message Us Here

Incandescent, Fluorescent or LED? Which is Better for Your Home?

With the many choices of light bulbs available on the market, how do you decide what to purchase?

Here are the Pros and Cons of each option so that you can make a wise choice!

Incandescent Bulbs

incandescentFor many years Incandescent bulbs were the standard light bulbs being used in homes. Although new bulbs have been introduced on the market, there are still some benefits to using Incandescent bulbs.

  1. The initial cost of purchasing this type of bulb is much lower.
  2. They remain relatively unchanged for the last 140 years. Their design has stood the test of time.
  3. The light they produce closely resembles natural lighting conditions.
  4. They will produce light between 750-1500 hours.

  1. Incandescent bulbs have a shorter life expectancy than the newer Fluorescent and LED bulbs.
  2. They will cost more on your energy bill because they will use more energy.

Fluorescent Bulbs

cfl-bulbFluorescent bulbs, also called CFLs have gained popularity over the last several years.

  1. They use about 75% less energy than the standard Incandescent bulb.
  2. They will last 8 to 10 times longer.
  3. They produce less heat.
  4. They are now as versatile as Incandescent bulbs with the wide range of available options in sizes, shapes and colors.

  1. They contain trace amounts of Mercury and must be disposed of carefully.
  2. They have a slow warm up time. This means that it can take several minutes for them to achieve full brightness.
  3. They are much more sensitive to repeatedly turning them off and on, shortening their life span.

ledLED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs are the newest bulb available on the market, and they have some amazing benefits.

  1. They are more efficient than Incandescent or Fluorescent bulbs.
  2. They are available in many different colors.
  3. They are much more durable than Incandescent and Fluorescent bulbs.
  4. Their life span can be rated for upwards of 100,000 hours.
  5. They achieve full brightness instantly.

  1. Initial costs are much higher than the other bulbs.
  2. They may overheat in outside environments shortening their life span.

If we had to choose which option we would personally pick, LED bulbs would be the winner. Yes, the initial cost is higher, but they will pay for themselves over time.
